Frederick Hodder
I grew up with photography, in the West, Colorado and Wyoming. My life's travels took me to many corners of the globe, Japan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the English countryside. Landscapes, panoramas, the natural world were all subjects to my cameras.
Rome Collaborations
The collaborations were completed at the American Academy in Rome during an art residency in 2018. They combine my photographs of ancient Roman sculpture and architecture with abstract images painted by Monroe Hodder while in Rome. I feel the addition of painted images allows me to capture different, unexpected aspects of the beauty and feeling of ancient Rome, so influenced by their Greek forebearers.
