I create architectural abstract paintings and sculptures. I am inspired by movement, which I create by sculpture or on the canvas through working with lines and colors. My interest to create architectural spaces in my objects is a way to merge my fascination with art and architecture. The completed works vary in scale and use images taken from the built world around us as a starting point. Layers and lines are painted using oil paints suspended in a wax medium. The wax medium allows me to work forwards and backwards, constantly removing and adding layers to the painting. My sculptures also work to create layers and lines with three dimensional materials suspend in space that allow me to expand beyond the confines of the canvas. I am compelled to work in a larger scale because it allows me to enhance the viewers’ connection into the space.
