PTTSAAES by Robert Mangold
We are excited to showcase a substantial body of sculptures by Robert Mangold. PTTSAAES is an acronym standing for “Point Traveling Through Space At An Erratic Speed.” This series of stationary sculpture creates visual equations that imply movement – with long linear passages diverting abruptly, from one corner to the next, causing the viewer’s eyes to gain speed as they follow the surface of the work.
Robert Mangold is often considered one of the pioneers of the contemporary art scene in Denver. Mangold moved to Colorado in 1960, working alongside Vance Kirkland at University of Denver before founding the art department at Metro State in 1965. His works can be found in important collections around the world and are proudly on display throughout the city.
