“If you call this a stick you affirm, if you call this not-a-stick you negate, beyond affirmation and negation, what would you call it?”

This quote by 12th Century Buddhist monk, Tai-Hui, has been a bit of an obsession of mine for years now and drives this current body of work.

I’m always interested in where an object, an image, an idea reside in language, in space and in time. How do hese things resonate through language and time and ultimately how do they define our perceptions of things?

In my previous body of work, time was the fundamental element I worked with to ask myself these questions. Using organics, weights, helium balloons, among other things as “time keepers” and photography and casts as tools to talk about memory and perception.
